BOTOX® Cosmetic

Smile, laugh, frown, and make all the facial expressions you want and stop worrying about wrinkles! After years of squinting, laughing, frowning, smoking, and worrying, the skin around the eyes and on the forehead often develops deep lines and wrinkles. These lines are called “expression lines.” Until now, this type of wrinkle has been difficult to treat. Expression lines may often make you look older, tired, or stressed. Now, by utilizing an already approved muscle-relaxing agent, expression lines can be significantly reduced.

What is BOTOX®?
Botox Before and After
BOTOX is a therapeutic muscle-relaxing agent derived from the bacterium, clostridium botulinum. For years physicians have been using BOTOX as a cosmetic treatment to correct visible signs of stress and aging.

How does BOTOX® work?

Your brain sends messages to your muscles so that they can contract and move. BOTOX works to block the muscle from responding to the message; as a result, the muscle relaxes and the overlying skin remains unwrinkled and smooth.

CosmoDerm® & CosmoPlast®

CosmoDerm/CosmoPlast Before and AfterCosmoDerm & CosmoPlast are the first FDA approved dermal (skin) fillers made from human collagen. There is no pre-treatment test required, so you can get the results you want in just one doctor visit – results that can last up to 6 months!

What are CosmoDerm & CosmoPlast?
Collagen is a natural protein found in the body that provides support to our skin, muscles, tendons and bones. As we age, the natural collagen layer thins and wrinkles appear. Other factors that attribute to wrinkles include sun exposure, injury, acne, smoking and our normal facial expressions. It’s unavoidable.

But now you can smooth out those lines and furrows using CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast, purified human collagen manufactured in strictly controlled environments. They are injected just below the skin surface and act as fillers, creating a smooth surface and temporarily eliminating those fine lines, wrinkles and scars. Fine lines are treated with CosmoDerm, while CosmoPlast is used for those deeper lines and furrows.

What areas can be treated?
The most common areas that can successfully be treated include crow’s feet, frown lines between the eyes, worry lines in our forehead, deep smile lines and those deep lines that extend from our nose to our lips. When used along the lip border, it reduces those vertical lines around the lips, while adding definition to the lips.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The procedure is performed in your doctor’s office and usually takes less than an hour for treatment and recovery. Results are effective immediately for those finer lines and lip area. Your doctor will inject the fillers using a small gauge needle until the desired effect is achieved. Deeper lines and furrows can typically be treated in 2 or 3 procedures done within a 3 month period. Results generally last 3 to 6 months. Most patients will have repeat treatments 3 or 4 times a year because of the body’s natural absorption of the collagen. Discomfort is minimal because CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast contain the anesthetic, lidocaine.

Hylaform®

Hylaform gel is a sterile, clear, colorless dermal (skin) filler gel implant made of chemically
modified hyaluronic acid derived from avian (bird) source. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally
occurring substance found in the fluids surrounding cells and tissues. It is chemically,
physically and biologically similar in the tissues of all species. Hylaform gel is made from
highly purified natural hyaluronic acid that is gradually absorbed by your body through
natural mechanisms.

What is hylaform gel used for?
The gel is injected into skin tissue for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles
and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

Where does Hylaform gel come from?
The gel is produced from materials of avian (bird) origin and contains extremely small
amounts of avian protein. Because of this, you should speak to your physician and you
should not use Hylaform gel if you have any known allergies to avian protein.

How does Hylaform gel work?
Hylaform gel is injected just beneath the skin surface temporarily adding volume to
the layers of the skin that have deteriorated due to age and other factors. The gel,
when injected, is used to raise depressions in the skin, providing temporary
correction of wrinkles and folds.

Restylane®

Restylane Before and AfterRestylane® is a long lasting cosmetic filler that provides dramatic results for improving the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles and folds.
This is a non-surgical solution to soften facial lines and wrinkles, restore volume and fullness to the skin, plump up lips, and fill in scars. Restylane injected into the lips can give back fullness to lips that have receded. The cosmetic results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.

What is the treatment like?
Restylane is injected in small amounts under your skin to fill creases, lines, wrinkles or folds. It is also injected around the lip area to create volume, resulting in a more youthful appearance. A skin test is not necessary prior to treatment, so treatment can be performed at any time. In order to optimize your comfort, the treatment area may be anesthetized with a topical cream or anesthetic block. Treatment results are immediately evident.

How long do the results last?
Depending on many factors, such as your lifestyle, age and skin structure your results may last as long as six months to a year or more. You may be required a touch up treatment 2 to 4 weeks after the first treatment to achieve your desired result. Treatment to enhance the lips is reported to last much longer than treatment using standard collagen filler. When the effect of the treatment begins to diminish, you can replenish the area as needed.

Radiesse™

Facial lines and wrinkles are caused by a gradual breakdown of the body's collagen and the elastin fibers in the skin. No one is immune from experiencing this normal aging process. Squinting, frowning and smiling also inflict stress on the underlying collagen in the skin and accelerate the formation of these furrows. Until recently, injectable collagen was the most widely used available cosmetic filler to improve the appearance of these lines.

Radiesse™ is a long lasting cosmetic filler that provides dramatic results for improving the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles and folds. This is a non-surgical solution to soften facial lines and wrinkles, restore volume and fullness to the skin, plump up lips, and fill in scars. Radiesse™ injected into the lips can give back fullness to lips that have receded.

What is Radiesse™?
Radiesse™ is long-lasting liquid injectable filler made from calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a component found in bone and teeth. Unlike collagen, which is made of animal bovine, no pretests are required to determine if you will experience any side effects or allergic reaction. Radiesse™ is not absorbed by your body, thus the advantage it offers over collagen is its ability to last for years.

How many treatments will I need?
The cosmetic results you desire and the area to be treated will influence the number of treatments necessary. Typically one treatment is sufficient. Since Radiesse™ is not absorbed by your body, results are long lasting. Results are visible immediately following the treatment, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.

What can I expect following treatment?
You can resume normal activities following treatment. The most commonly reported side effect has been redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within a few hours or, at most, a day or two. Results are immediately evident. Lines, wrinkles and folds look softer and your skin looks smooth.

What is the treatment like?
Radiesse™ is injected in small amounts under your skin to fill creases, lines, wrinkles, and folds. It is also injected around the lip area to create volume, resulting in a more youthful appearance. A skin test is not necessary prior to treatment, so treatment can be performed at any time. In order to optimize your comfort, the treatment area may be anesthetized with a local anesthetic. The cosmetic results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.

How long do the results last?
Depending on many factors, such as your lifestyle, age and skin structure your results may last as long as several years. You may require a touch up treatment after the first treatment to achieve your desired result.

What are the benefits of a Radiesse™ treatment?
Immediately you will discern a smoothing of the wrinkles and folds. Radiesse™ will impart lift and new firmness to your skin. With lip enhancement, the results will be a noticeably fuller and more sensuous contour. It is not necessary for you to be tested for skin sensitivity. The cosmetic results are visible immediately, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.

Sculptra™

Fine lines and wrinkles are a common concern of individuals, as they age but not the only concern. The skin on our face can become depressed and hollow in appearance. Sometimes fillers like Restylane or BOTOX are not enough to solve our problems. Sculptra in an injectable that can be used not only to fill fine lines and wrinkles but it can add fullness and volume to skin providing you with a naturally younger look. The skin will naturally lose its elasticity and firmness over time but Sculptra can help turn back the hands of time.

What is Sculptra™?
Composed of the synthetic material poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra is the latest in dermal fillers. Sculptra has been used for many years in a variety of surgical products. It is FDA approved and can be used to fill lines and wrinkles and restore areas of fat loss. Sculptra adds volume to hollow and depressed areas on the face including around the eyes and cheeks by increasing the thickness of the skin. It will also fill facial lines and wrinkles due to its ability to stimulate collagen production. A skin test is not required with Sculptra as it is a synthetic material that will not harm the body. The results are longer lasting and natural in appearance giving your face a beautiful refreshed look.

How is Sculptra™ different from Collagen or Restylane?
Sculptra is different from Collage and Restylane because instead of simply filling lines and wrinkles it stimulates your production of collagen to replace the lost volume in your skin and provide you with a natural look. Sculptra is also longer lasting then both Collagen and Restylane. The effects can last as long as 2 years whereas their results last for 6-8 months.

What does treatment involve?
The treatment will begin with the numbing of the area to be injected. Typically, a topical numbing cream will be applied to each desired area. Sculptra is then injected into the skin and molded for desired results.

How many treatments will I need?
The effects of Sculptra are not immediate and the results will gradually improve in the following weeks after injection and could last up to 2 years. Depending on the severity of fat loss and depth of the wrinkles you may need a series of treatments to obtain the best results. As you continue to age and notice the area to wrinkle, crease, or become sunken you may want additional injections. In the weeks following your treatment if you are not experiencing appropriate results you may need a touch-up or an additional injection. Touch-ups may also be necessary to maintain the optimal effects.
